This stereograph shows the main entrance to the Lewis and Clark Exposition in Portland, Oregon, held in 1905 to mark the centennial of the Lewis and Clark expedition's arrival at the Pacific coast. The card was copyrighted by J.A. Blosser of Snohomish, Washington, and carries his number 645. Viewed through a stereoscope, the two nearly identical photographs merge into a single three-dimensional scene, a popular way for turn-of-the-century audiences to see fairs and distant places. The date of c1905 comes from the caption card and has not been independently verified.
