The title places this sales corporation in a photograph dated September 13, 1923, though the National Photo Company's own label is unverified and the record says little more. The company was a commercial studio in Washington, D.C., and its glass negatives capture the everyday business and street life of the capital in the early twentieth century. Donated by Herbert A. French in 1947, this plate shows the streaks and blemishes that often appear as the original coatings on glass negatives deteriorate, so fine detail may be harder to read than in sharper plates.
