Captioned as a great tank battle in the Bjelgorod-Orel sector, this German print comes from the Presse-Hoffmann news picture files and carries the credit "PK-Aufn. Mittelstädt," which marks it as the work of a Wehrmacht Propaganda Company photographer. Presse-Hoffmann was a Berlin agency that supplied photographs to German newspapers and magazines, and its wartime pictures were chosen to show the army in a favorable light. The catalog date of about 1942 is only partly verified, and the Belgorod-Oryol area is best known for the armored battles of summer 1943, so the caption and date are worth reading with care.
