This WPA poster advertises a San Bernardino production of J. Hartley Manners' *Peg o' My Heart*, a sentimental comedy about an Irish girl that was a major hit after its 1912 Broadway debut. The Federal theater Project, a branch of the Works Progress Administration, employed out-of-work actors, directors and stagehands to stage plays for local audiences during the Depression, bringing live theater to towns far from the big cities. The poster was printed in color by silkscreen, a method the WPA poster units favored because it was inexpensive and could be run in quantity, and its flat, bold shapes reflect the style of the era.
