A 1936 silkscreen poster from the Federal Art Project stands out for its subject: an exhibition whose interiors were designed by the project's own interior design staff. The Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, employed artists and designers during the Depression, and its poster division used silkscreen to produce bold, flat-color announcements for exhibitions and events across New York. The design focus of this show reflects the period's growing interest in modern display and furnishing. A date stamp on the reverse, March 1941, shows the sheet was still being filed and handled several years after it was printed.
