Page eight of the Bulfinch sketchbook pairs a ground plan with an east view of the meeting house on Hollis Street, so the drawing records both the layout and the exterior of one specific Boston church. The sketch is pen, wash, and pencil, and it dates from roughly 1803 to 1827. The Library attributes the sheets to the Bulfinch sketchbook, but the drawing has not been definitively linked to Charles Bulfinch, the Boston architect who was active in the city during these years. Hollis Street Church was a long-established Congregational congregation, and drawings like this one were valued as records of local buildings whose appearance changed over time.
