Parlor car no. 25 on the Pere Marquette Railroad, a Michigan line reorganized under that name in 1900, shows the upholstered comfort that set parlor cars apart from ordinary coaches. These cars carried an extra fare for their individual armchairs and were used mainly on busier day routes. The Detroit Publishing Company made two nearly identical 8 x 10 inch glass negatives of the car, and the pair came to the Library of Congress as a 1949 gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado.
