Robert Latou Dickinson, the gynecologist and sex researcher, is shown here in a head-and-shoulders view turned to the left, pen in hand at his desk. The picture dates to about 1938, when Dickinson was in his late seventies and still active in medicine. He was also a skilled draftsman and anatomical illustrator, and he made many of his own medical images, which makes a portrait of him at work especially fitting. The photograph is part of the Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division collection.
