This 1918 lithograph takes its message from its title, "Pave the way to victory," and its record lists military vehicles and transportation among its subjects, so the poster ties the purchase of war bonds to the machinery and roads needed to move troops and supplies. Canada financed much of its war effort through Victory Loan campaigns, which asked ordinary citizens to lend money to the government by buying bonds. Posters like this one carried that appeal into streets, shops and workplaces. The record also credits the Canada Food Board as a sponsor, a reminder that wartime organizations often shared promotional work.
