Here the Victory Bond drive is framed as a police matter. The title, "Help to catch Huns," presents buying bonds as a civilian duty on a level with hunting down enemy agents. The subject headings tie the poster to Canada's wartime economy and to the police, reflecting how the Victory Loan campaigns asked ordinary citizens to fund the war and to stay alert to suspected spies and saboteurs. "Hun" was the common Allied slur for Germans during the First World War, and posters like this one used it to turn a financial transaction into a patriotic contest. Canada ran several Victory Loan drives between 1917 and 1919, and this lithograph shows how those appeals were pitched to everyday viewers.
