Its title asks why not invest in these building materials, a direct question that sets this 1919 color lithograph apart from typical wartime appeals. It was issued for the Blue Triangle campaign of the Young Women's Christian Association, which invited women and girls to back the organization's construction after the war. The YWCA had expanded quickly during the First World War, opening hostels and centers for women drawn into war industries and service work, and it needed lasting buildings to continue that work. Nora Houston and Adele Clark are credited as the poster's makers.
