Ernest Thompson appears here in a glass negative made on May 23, 1924, one of the National Photo Company's many portraits from that decade. The company was a Washington, D.C., firm that photographed government figures, professionals and ordinary sitters, and its negatives were later gathered into the Library of Congress. The title comes from data the company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, which has not been independently checked, so the sitter's identity should be treated as provisional. Visitors should also notice the streaks and blemishes on the glass, the result of age-related deterioration in the original coating.
