The poster announces a Washington exhibition of original Doonesbury drawings by Garry Trudeau, shown at the Jane Haslem Gallery and dated to about 1982. Trudeau's comic strip, which began in 1970 and ran on college campuses before going national, was known for pointed satire of politics and public life, and the Washington setting fits its frequent focus on the capital. The poster was produced for the National Women's Political Caucus, which was founded in 1971 to increase women's participation in politics, and its proceeds went to that organization. Its subject headings also tie it to the White House and to the art exhibition scene in Washington during the 1980s.
