The title credits "Gen. Alfaro Obregon," but the name is most likely a misspelling of Álvaro Obregón, the Sonoran commander who fought in the Mexican Revolution and served as president from 1920 to 1924. Yaqui fighters from his home state of Sonora served in his forces, so a group portrait of Yaqui men with a general points to that wartime alliance. The Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied news photographs to newspapers, distributed images like this for quick public use.
