The caption on this glass negative names a General Caho as governor of Chihuahua, but the title comes from unverified notes left by the Bain News Service, so the spelling and the man's identity call for caution. Chihuahua, a large state in northern Mexico that borders Texas, was a major theater of the Mexican Revolution in the 1910s, and its governors changed often during those years. The Bain News Service, a New York picture agency, sold photographs of newsmakers to newspapers, which is why portraits of foreign officials like this one appear in its collection.
