Few houses in Buffalo carry as much history as the Milburn House, the residence of John G. Milburn, a leading attorney who served as president of the Pan-American Exposition. In September 1901, President William McKinley was shot at the exposition's Temple of Music and died in the house on September 14, which made the building a lasting part of the fair's story. The view comes from the Detroit Publishing Company, whose photographers recorded American towns and landmarks for decades. The caption data has not been verified, so the picture is best read as a record of the fairgrounds in 1901.
