The Temple of Music was the setting for one of the most consequential events of the Pan-American Exposition, and this close view shows the building's decorative work up close. Buffalo photographer C.D. Arnold copyrighted the print around 1901, the year the fair ran from May to November. President William McKinley was shot inside the hall on September 6, 1901, while greeting visitors, and he died eight days later. The date and caption details come from an original card and have not been independently verified.
