Few theater posters of the period give two stars such equal billing as this one, which pairs Stuart Robson and William H. Crane in Shakespeare's *The Comedy of Errors*. The comic team was popular on the American stage in the late 1870s, and the play's two sets of identical twins, masters and servants, suited their partnership well. This sheet was printed in 1879 by the Metropolitan Lithographic Studio in New York, signed by the artist R. Muller, with J. E. Jackson credited as agent. Its black-and-white lithograph shows how touring companies used large printed sheets to draw audiences.
