The Royal Lilliputians were a troupe of little people who toured American vaudeville and theater houses in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and this 1900 lithograph advertises their act as "a new and original idea in comedy." Printed in black and white by the Russell-Morgan Print firm of Cincinnati and New York, the poster reflects the bold, eye-catching style that theatrical lithographers used to sell shows to passing crowds. Its subject headings also list animal hides and skins, a reminder that the troupe's comedy often leaned on spectacle and novelty. Posters like this one preserve how traveling entertainers were marketed to audiences of the period.
