A dining room inside the Grand Canyon Hotel in Yellowstone National Park is the subject of this photograph, dated around 1929. Its maker, J.E. Haynes of St. Paul, was a commercial photographer who documented the park's hotels, lodges and scenery for tourists and promotional use in the early twentieth century. Dining rooms like this one were a central part of the park visit, where travelers arriving by rail and motor coach gathered for meals between days of sightseeing. The date and attribution come from older catalog records and have not been independently verified.
