The print presents Iacope d'Agar, a painter, as an engraving by Rocco Pozzi after a painting by Ferretti, so the image passes through two artists' hands. In the eighteenth century, engraved likenesses like this were a common way to circulate the faces of artists, often gathered into books and series that gave students and collectors a visual record of the profession. The 1762 date and the attributions come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified, so treat them as provisional. Comparing the inscription and sitter's features with other reference works is the best way to confirm the details.
