Interior work is underway in the Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress in this view, dated October 14, 1893 in the record. The building was still going up then, and the library would not move in until 1897. Its name is a nod to Thomas Jefferson, whose personal library, sold to Congress in 1815 after the British burned the Capitol's collection, became the foundation of the national library. The date comes from an unverified caption card, so it is worth checking against other sources.
