Bing cherries, a 1984 color silkscreen by Joe Price, takes its subject from a fruit with a notable namesake. The Bing cherry, a dark, sweet variety, was developed in Oregon in the 1870s by Seth Lewelling's orchard and was named for Ah Bing, a Chinese-born foreman who worked there. Its deep red skin and glossy surface suit the saturated color of silkscreen printing. The details come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified.
