The church named here is First Presbyterian in Buffalo, New York, pictured in a photograph dated around 1870 and credited to C.L. Pond. The caption tracings list carriages and street railroads, which points to a busy city street where horse-drawn traffic was common in the period. Buffalo was then a fast-growing Great Lakes port and rail hub, and its churches were prominent landmarks along its main thoroughfares. The record is based on old caption-card data, so the exact street and date should be checked against other sources.
