The regular army will give us victory" is the Catalan line that gives this Republican poster its particular message, and its subject is a military helmet. It was produced by the propaganda office of the Generalitat de Catalunya during the Spanish Civil War, probably between 1936 and 1939. In the first months of the war, Republican forces relied heavily on volunteer militias, and by 1937 the government was pushing to build a unified regular army. Posters like this one argued that disciplined, organized soldiers, not improvised militia columns, would decide the fight.
