Only the last seven letters of the alphabet appear on this leaf, T through Z, each set with a rhyme and a small illustration. The leaf comes from a 1773 edition of *The New England Primer Improved*, a schoolbook that generations of colonial and early American children learned to read from. Its alphabet verses blended letter sounds with moral and religious lessons, and the woodcut pictures helped young readers connect a letter with an image. Printed editions of the primer circulated in New England for more than a century, so this page reflects both a long-standing teaching tradition and the printing trade of its day.
