Few stage stars of the 1890s drew crowds like Maude Adams, and this poster announces her in *The Little Minister*, a comedy adapted from J.M. Barrie's novel. Charles Frohman, one of the most powerful theatrical producers in New York, presented the 1897 production, and it helped make Adams a leading name on the American stage. The color lithograph was printed by the Strobridge Lithographing Company of Cincinnati and New York, a firm that produced many of the bold theater posters of the era. Its taglines, including "The right man for me!", hint at the romantic plot.
