The title, "Avaunt ye troublers of a World's repose," reads like a line of verse, and the record names Liberty and Britannia as its subjects. The print was the frontispiece to volume 37 of *The London Magazine* in 1768, a monthly that carried news, essays, and verse to readers across Britain. That year, the Townshend duties were provoking sharp resistance in the American colonies, and London periodicals regularly debated colonial rights and British authority. Later bibliographies linked the print to the American Revolution, although it appeared seven years before the war began.
