The Chicago Bar Association, founded in 1874, was one of the city's leading professional groups for lawyers, and this glass negative records an event or gathering of that organization on October 17, 1922, according to the date noted on the plate. The image comes from the National Photo Company, a commercial studio that made large numbers of views of American cities and events in the early twentieth century. The date is unverified, and the glass shows streaks and blemishes from deteriorating coatings, which are worth noticing alongside the subject.
