The building in this view is the Chicago Coliseum, a large hall on the city's near South Side that hosted political conventions, prizefights, and other mass gatherings in the early twentieth century. The Progressive Party held its 1912 national convention there, the event that nominated Theodore Roosevelt. The record gives no date for this exterior, and its title comes from caption cards that the Bain News Service wrote, so the exact moment is uncertain. The Bain collection mostly dates from about 1900 to the 1920s, and this glass negative likely belongs to that period.
