Semez du blé! C'est de l'or pour la France" (Sow wheat! It is gold for France) treats a field crop as wartime treasure, and the scythe and French flag in the design link that idea to national duty. By 1918, many French farmworkers had gone to the front, so food production depended on those left behind, including women, older men and others who took on farm work. Posters like this one urged people to plant more grain. The lithograph is signed by Suzanne Ferrand, and the Library of Congress also holds another printing with the same title at a slightly different size.
