A poster for Harry Kellar (1849-1922) that the record ties to demon-themed illusions and a toasting routine, two of the feats that set his show apart from other magicians of the day. Kellar was widely regarded as the leading American magician of the 1890s, and he later mentored Harry Houdini. The Strobridge Lithographing Company, which printed theatrical posters in Cincinnati and New York, produced large color sheets like this one to advertise touring attractions. Its size and bold color show how stage posters were meant to catch the eye of passersby.
