Lawson's *Processional*, a play about a mining town and its strikers, is the subject of this silkscreen poster, which advertises a Federal theater Project production in New York City. The Federal theater was one of the arts programs of the Works Progress Administration, created in 1935 to put actors, writers, and stage crews back to work during the Depression. Its posters were made by artists of the Federal Art Project, who used the inexpensive silkscreen process to produce bold, colorful advertising. The play's title is printed in large letters, and a date stamped on the back shows the sheet was in circulation by December 1937.
