The Federal theater Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, staged this production in San Diego to keep theater workers employed during the Depression. The play being advertised, *Room Service*, is a farce by John Murray and Allen Boretz about a broke producer and his cast who hole up in a hotel room while they wait for money that never arrives. Silkscreen posters like this one were inexpensive to reproduce and were pasted on storefronts and public walls, so the flat color and bold lettering were meant to catch the eye from across a street.
