Dated December 2, 1833, and titled *Grand fantastical parade, New-York*, this lithograph uses a city procession to satirize Andrew Jackson, who is named among its subjects. It is signed with the pseudonym Hassan Straightshanks, generally attributed to the caricaturist David Claypool Johnston, and it belongs to a small group of his 1833 and 1834 satirical prints, including *The Grand National Caravan Moving East* and *The Government*. Its subjects point to the period's sharp disputes over federal economic policy, especially the fight over the Second Bank of the United States, and over the militia, a force often seen in public parades and ceremonies.
