This is a single drawing rather than a woodblock print, and its record ties it to drawbridges in Tokyo and to foreign visitors there between 1850 and 1900. That span covers the last years of the Edo shogunate and the early Meiji era, when the city, renamed Tokyo in 1868, gradually opened to Western travelers and diplomats. The attribution to Isoda Koryūsai, who was active from 1764 to 1788, does not fully match the catalog date of 1750 or the later subject dates, so the timing of the work is uncertain. The drawing belongs to the David Murray Collection.
