The Federal theater Project of the Works Progress Administration presented *Brothers* by Herbert Ashton Jr., and this silkscreen poster, printed in 1936, announces it. The Federal theater Project put actors, designers and stagehands back to work during the Depression while bringing live drama to audiences well beyond the largest cities. The record links the production to Iowa and to family life, and the title itself points toward those domestic ties. A July 1937 date stamp on the reverse shows the sheet was already in circulation within about a year of its printing.
