Horseback riding sets this color poster apart from the many scenic views of the era, and it was produced for the National Park Service's public relations work. Dorothy Waugh's title, *The lure of the national parks*, presents the ride as an invitation to visit the country's protected lands. In the 1930s the Service was working to build public support for its parks, and posters like this were a common way to reach travelers and local audiences. The record dates it only to between 1930 and 1940, so the exact year remains uncertain.
