This color lithograph urges Britons who could not serve at the front to put their money toward the war effort. Its headline, "If you cannot fight - lend your money," and the instruction to visit the post office that day point to the wartime savings and bond schemes that the government sold through post offices. The listed price, 15 shillings sixpence for a £1 unit, reflects the discounted government paper that made thrift and lending easy for ordinary households. The poster was printed by David Allen & Sons in Harrow, a firm that produced much of Britain's First World War poster art.
