The record places this factory in Minneapolis's milling district, where the Mississippi drops over St. Anthony Falls and drove a dense row of mills along its banks. It also names the Pillsbury A Mill, one of the largest flour mills of its day, and the dams that harnessed the falls, which shows how feed makers and flour millers shared the same water power. Two glass negatives of the view survive from the Detroit Publishing Company, whose photographers documented American cities and industries around 1900 for views and color-tinted postcards.
