William Faversham, the English-born stage actor, is the name that anchors this 1898 poster for the comedy *Have You Seen Smith?* The large color lithograph, about 214 by 103 centimeters, was printed by the Strobridge Lithographing Company of Cincinnati and New York, one of the busiest American poster houses of the period, and it carries the name of the theatrical firm Liebler & Co. Posters like this were meant to be read from across a street, so bold lettering and bright flat color did much of the work. The sheet's own caption, "A good thing," reads as a bit of promotional cheer aimed at passersby.
