The Port of Philadelphia poster is a 1936 color woodblock print, produced under the Federal Art Project, that shows the city's working waterfront at a time when its piers and freight traffic were central to regional commerce. The blocks were cut by Domenic Rotoli, a printmaker who worked on several WPA posters, and the design reflects the program's effort to promote public services and local industries through affordable, widely displayed art. Part of the Library of Congress's Work Projects Administration Poster Collection, it captures the Depression-era push to publicize American ports and shipping as sources of jobs and national trade.
