Lary's Silver Lake, as the title names it, shows a house on the shore of Silver Lake, a glacial lake near the village of Silver Springs in Wyoming County, western New York. The print is credited to A.L. Remington of Silver Springs, which places its maker in the same village as the lake. Lake houses and summer residences like this were common across upstate New York from the late 1800s into the early 1900s, when railroads brought city families to rural lakes for the season. The record gives only a rough date range, so the exact year is uncertain.
