Andrew Mack, the Irish-born singing comedian, is the star of this 1899 poster for *The Last of the Rohans*, a play by Ramsay Morris. Mack was a popular stage performer whose appeal rested on sentimental Irish songs and comic singing, and the poster promotes him as the draw. The lithograph was produced by the Strobridge Litho Co. of Cincinnati and New York, one of the leading American firms making large theatrical posters in the late nineteenth century. Its credits to the management firm of Rich & Harris show how touring productions of the era were marketed through bold color and star billing.
