Andrew Mack, the Irish-born singing comedian, is the star billed in this 1895 color lithograph for Myles Aroon, a sentimental Irish play in which he appeared as a headliner. The poster was printed by the Strobridge Lithographing Company of Cincinnati and New York, working for the touring firm D.W. Truss & Co., and its caption describes colleens gathering to have their fortunes told. Stage posters of this kind were built to sell an Irish stock-character romance to American audiences, and Mack's popularity in such roles made him a major draw of the period.
