A bold claim of "America's greatest musical artists" sets this 1890 poster apart, announcing the act of Fostel and Emmett in large type. The black-and-white lithograph was printed in Baltimore by R.H. Eichner & Co., and its record notes that a color version of the same poster also exists. In the 1890s, touring minstrel and variety troupes relied on boldly lettered posters like this one, which were printed in quantity and pasted on storefronts and walls to draw audiences to a single engagement.
