Unlike a photograph, this view is a halftone reproduction of a drawing, made to illustrate Moses King's *King's Views of New York*. It shows the Singer Building at the northwest corner of Broadway and Liberty Street, a site in Lower Manhattan. The building was designed by Ernest Flagg for the Singer Manufacturing Company, the sewing machine firm, and was completed in 1908. Its slender, tower-like form made it briefly the tallest building in the world, and the drawing captures the striking height it gave to the Broadway streetscape.
