This glass negative portrays Senator Irvine L. Lenroot of Wisconsin, a Republican who served in the U.S. Senate from 1918 to 1927. The title and date were supplied by the National Photo Company, a Washington studio that photographed officials and public figures in the period, and they carry a note that they are unverified, with the date taken from a related negative. Glass plates like this one were the standard working medium for press and portrait work at the time. Viewers may notice streaks and blotches, which the record attributes to natural deterioration of the original emulsion coatings.
