Coca-Cola ads from the early twentieth century often leaned on one simple idea: that the drink belonged to everyone. The slogan "The drink everybody knows" makes that claim outright, presenting the soda as a familiar part of daily American life rather than a novelty. Coca-Cola was first brewed in Atlanta in 1886 by pharmacist John Pemberton, and by the 1910s and 1920s the company was using bold illustration and catchy copy to build a national brand. Worth noticing is how the advertising sold a shared experience, not just a flavor.
