The title names a specific worker, Giles Edmund Newsom, who was hurt on August 21, 1912, at the Sanders Spinning Mill in Bessemer City, North Carolina, when a machine part fell on his foot and his hand was caught in unguarded gearing. The record lists the print as a color lithograph from 1890, published in the February 22, 1890, issue of *Judge*, a New York humor weekly. The dates do not match, so the entry is best read with caution. Child labor in Southern textile mills drew reform attention in the early twentieth century, and Newsom's own statement that he was 11 years old shows how common underage work was there.
